Pierluigi Toma is an Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) in Econometrics at the University of Salento, where he teaches Econometrics and Advanced Econometrics in the Department of Economic Sciences. He is a member of the Faculty Board of the Doctoral Program in “Digital Transition and Sustainability: Businesses and Public Administrations in the Globalized Economy.” Toma has attained the national scientific qualification as an associate professor in Econometrics, in Economic Statistics, and as a full professor in Economic Policy.
He engages in reviewer activities for numerous international journals and participates in many prestigious international conferences. Toma has served as a visiting researcher at Jinan University (China), LISIS Université Paris-Est (France), the Institute of Economics and Rural Development (Lithuania), and the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium).
He has coordinated numerous national and international research projects. His research focuses on microeconometrics, efficiency and productivity analysis, the economics of human capital, and the probability of business default.
