Giuliana Birindelli is Professor of Financial Markets and Institutions at the Department of Management and Business Administration, “G. d’Annunzio” University of Chieti-Pescara, Italy, where she teaches “Financial Markets and Institutions” and “Banking and Finance”. She obtained her PhD and her post-doctorate degree at the University of Pisa, Italy. She is fellow of many academic associations and scientific research centres – also as a delegate from her University (e.g., Association of Italian Financial Risk Managers, University Consortium of Industrial and Managerial Economics, IPAZIA Observatory on gender research, and Research Laboratory on “Banks, Firms, Finance and Ethics”). She serves as member of the editorial board and referee for many scientific journals. She is also PhD committee member in “Business and Behavioral Sciences” at “G. d’Annunzio” University of Chieti-Pescara, Italy. Her main research interests are social and environmental performance in the banking sector, corporate governance of banks, Basel framework, internal rating systems, operational risk and compliance risk. At present, she is member of the Board of Auditors of the Bank of Italy.
