Gabriele Di Francesco

Gabriele Di Francesco, past associate professor of General Sociology at the University “G. d’Annunzio” of Chieti-Pescara, held the Chairs of: “Sociology Institutions”,”Methodology and techniques of social research”, “Organization of Social Services “, and “Theories of welfare and social interventions” at the degree course in Social Work. He is president of the CdS in Social Work since the academic year 2014/2015.
He is also Member of the Permanent Regional Observatory against Bullying of the Regional School Office for Abruzzo. Scientific coordinator and member of the Observatory on drug addiction and alcoholism at the Prefecture of Chieti.
He is the editor of the scientific journals Ratio Sociologica (ISSN 2035-3871), Journal of Social Housing (ISSN: 2036-5294) and Studi Medievale e Moderni (ISSN: 1735: 3452.
He’s journalist registered since 1982.
He was part of the School of advanced study- PhD “G. d’Annunzio” in the colleges of “Social Sciences: theories, applications and interventions” and of “Languages, literatures and cultures” (XXIX cycle). He was a member of the doctoral college “Social Policies and Local Development” at the Department of Theories and Social Development Policies of the University of Teramo.
For the years 2011-2013 and 2014-2017 he was elected to the national scientific committee of the “Sociology of health and medicine” section of the AIS – Italian Sociological Association.
In 2013 he received the “1st Class Medal” of the Italian Red Cross as a prize for his research activity in the social welfare field.
In 2017 he received the Laeng prize for educational communication.
His scientific interests are oriented to:
the methodology and techniques of sociological and ethnographic research;
to sociology of health with a focus on bullying and pathological addictions, on safety at work, on nutrition;
the sociology of the socio-economic development of the territory, sustainable development and quality of life.
